Acclaimed Australian singer, songwriter and actress Jessica Mauboy has created history as the first indigenous artist to debut at #1 on the ARIA Album Chart with her ‘Secret Daughter’ Album.

The Secret Daughter - (Songs from the Original TV Series) sees Mauboy covering classic anthems by the likes of Cold Chisel and Crowded House while also introducing new originals co-written with fellow UMP songwriters Emma Birdsall, Ilan Kidron and Louis Schoorl, who also produced the album.

The ‘Secret Daughter’ album is the 18th Australian album to top the chart this year and landed just ahead of Hillsong’s new LP and the brand new Kings of Leon album.

Arwen Curson, Vice President Creative, Australia said: "We have always been extremely proud of Jess and her achievements but this one tops them all (literally), and it couldn’t have happened to a nicer person. We are genuinely honoured to be a part of her journey".

Having been very involved in the process from beginning to end, Jess explains: “We really wanted to keep the songs quite raw sounding… We really wanted to match the pureness of the storyline so we either wanted to strip things back acoustically or rock-out pub-style when it helped to set the scene and tell the story… I remember one of the first ones to come up was Cold Chisel’s ‘Flame Tree’ which is one of my favourite songs, and we just thought having a female version of that song would be a really new way to interpret the lyrics and bring a really interesting texture to the song.”

After a stunning X Factor performance of the classic track last night, the songstress also announced a long awaited headline tour kicking off next April 2017. The ‘All The Hits Live - The Australian Tour’, as the name suggests will see Jessica perform hit songs spanning her 10 year career.
